Black-capped Chickadee

Black-capped chickadees are relatively small, drab songbirds with distinctive black caps and throats contrasting white cheeks and napes.

Black-capped chickadees are the most widespread chickadees. They are common in open woodlands and suburbs throughout the northern U.S. as well as most of Canada and Alaska. There are subtle geographical variations in size and plumage.
