Verdin

Verdin are tiny birds with light gray plumage and a relatively short bill and tail. Adults have a distinctive yellow head and small rufuous patch on the shoulder, which juveniles lack.

Verdin are common in shrubs of the southwestern U.S. and northern Mexico.
