Golden-crowned Sparrow

Golden-crowned sparrows are large, drab sparrows with a bicolored gray bill and a relatively long tail. Breeding adults have a yellow forecrown, as their name indicates, as well as a black headband which is absent in nonbreeding adults and juveniles.

Golden-crowned sparrows are fairly common in woodlands and open brushy areas along the western coast of the U.S. and Canada.
