Song sparrows are the most common sparrow. They are streaked overall with gray upperparts, rusty sides and tail, and light underparts. Physical features include a gray eyebrow, brown throat stripes bordering a white throat patch, a relatively short thick bill, and pink legs and feet.
Song sparrows are common in brushy habitats throughout the U.S. and most of Canada. There is regional variation in plumage coloration and size of the bill.
