Spotted Towhee

Spotted towhees are relatively small, stocky birds with a dark gray or black head, back and long tail, chestnut flanks and white bellies. Some of their wing feathers have white tips, resulting in a spotted appearance as their name indicates. Adult males and females look similar.

Spotted towhees are found in brushy areas in the western U.S.
