Pied-billed Grebe

Pied-billed grebe are small pond grebes with drab plumage, a relatively thick bill and a dark eye. Their name describes the bicolored (pied) bill of the breeding adult.

Pied-billed grebes are common in marshy ponds and sloughs throughout most of North America, except for the extreme north.
