Heermann's gull is an unique white-headed gull with a gray body (breeding plumage). Adults and 2nd winter gulls also have a distinctive red bill with a black tip. Nonbreeding adults and juveniles have a pale bill and a gray head and neck.
Heermann's gulls are found along the coast of the western U.S. and Baja Mexico.
