The laughing gull is a relatively slender medium-hooded gull. Its dark hood, white eye arcs, and reddish bill are prominent in the breeding adult. But in the nonbreeding adult, the hood is less apparent and the bill is very dark red.
The laughing gull is common along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts.
