Western Gull

The Western gull is a relatively heavy white-headed gull. Although its appearance is similar to its other white-headed relatives (see Ring-billed and California), it is distinguished by have broad tertials that droop to form a "skirt." Its legs are pink, and the iris can vary from pale to dark.

As its name suggests, the Western gull is found primarily in coastal areas of the Western U.S. It is rare inland.
