Wrentits are small, drab songbirds or "babblers." Their name indicates that they have characteristics of both wrens and titmice, such as a relatively large head and a long, cocked tail.
Wrentits are found in shrubs and coniferous brush in coastal areas of the western U.S. Darker plumage is found in northern parts of their range, while paler plumage is seen in southern parts.
