Barn owls are medium sized owls with dark eyes set in a distinctive heart-shaped face. Adults have tawny wings and white bellies. Fledglings are nearly all white.
Barn owls are nocturnal. They roost in dark, recessed areas of buildings, cliffs, and trees.
They are found throughout the southern half of the U.S.
