Brown pelicans are large, brownish gray waterbirds with large bills and throat pouches. Breeding adults have distinctive red throat pouches. Nonbreeding adults have white necks and pale yellow crowns, whereas juveniles have brown necks and heads.
They are found along the coasts of the southern U.S. and Mexico.
