American Kestrel

American kestrels are the smallest falcon, measuring about 9 inches tall and weighing about 4 ounces. Both male and females have two black stripes on a white face and barred, rufous backs. Males also have blue-gray coverts on their wings.

They are often found perched on wires in open areas throughout the U.S.
