The least sandpiper is the smallest sandpiper, weighing less than 1 ounce (20g). Like other sandpipers, it has grayish brown upperparts and breast contrasting a white belly. However, it is the only one with yellowish-greenish legs.
Least sandpipers are common in wet habitats in the southern U.S. and Mexico during the winter, and in arctic regions during the summer.
