Ruddy Turnstone

Ruddy turnstones are small shorebirds with short, orange legs, a white belly contrasting a mottled brown back, and a short bill. Breeding males have ruddy wings and a distinctive black and white "bib" on the breast.

Their name describes both their color and foraging behavior of flipping stones over.

Black turnstones are found on rocky shores of North America.
