Ruddy turnstones are small shorebirds with short, orange legs, a white belly contrasting a mottled brown back, and a short bill. Breeding males have a distinctive black and white "bib" on the breast, and ruddy wings, as its name indicates.
Ruddy turnstones spend their winters on rocky shores of the U.S. and Mexico, and nest on coastal tundra in northern Alaska and Canada.
