Cliff swallows have dark blue and chestnut heads, a pale collar, and dark backs contrasting pale rumps and undersides.
As their name suggests, their mud nests are common on cliffs (and also buildings) throughout North America. They occur in two geographical variants: Northern (white forehead) and Mexican (chestnut forehead).
