Northern Cardinal

Northern cardinals are crested birds with a short, cone-shaped bill and long tail. Adult males are bright red with a black face, while adult females are brown with reddish tinged wings and tail. The female's bill is also more orange-red compared to the male's red bill.

Northern cardinals are abundant in woodlands and brushy areas in the eastern U.S. and Mexico.
