Gadwall

Gadwalls are relatively large dabbling ducks with a round head and thin bill. Males are mostly gray, with a white belly and some chestnut on the wings. Females are mottled brown. Both males and females have white secondaries on their wings that are visible in flight.

Gadwalls are found in ponds and marshes throughout the U.S., and winter in the south.
