Mallard

Mallards are commonly referred to as "ducks." They are the largest dabbling ducks, meaning they feed by tipping tail up to reach aquatic plants.

Males and females are easily differentiated. Ducklings look like minature females, with the exception of yellow down on their heads.

They are abundant and widespread, and have adapted to urban habitats.
