Wood Duck

Wood ducks are perching ducks with relatively small bills and long tails. Breeding males are very colorful with a drooping crest and a white bridle under the chin. Adult females are mostly drab but have a white teardrop-shaped eye patch.

Wood ducks are fairly common in areas with sheltered water, particularly on the Pacific coast and in the southeastern U.S.
