Yellow-rumped warblers are the most commonly seen warbler. Adult males have gray plumage, while females and juveniles are brown. In addition to a yellow rump (for which they are named), they also have small yellow patches on their crown and sides.
There are two variants of yellow-rumped warblers: Myrtle (white throat) and Audubon's (yellow throat). Audubon's is limited to the western U.S. whereas Myrtle is found in both the east and west. Both varieties are abundant in woodlands.
